Dr. K. Siva Rama Krishna

Mr. Siva Rama Krishna K., is one of the generous Ophthalmologists who dedicated his services to the poor and the needy. He did his medicine at Guntur Medical College affiliated to Andhra University, Guntur in 1963, and he did his Masters in Ophthalmologic Sciences in 1967 at the same.

Mr. Siva Rama Krishna K., worked as an assistant Professor with Dr. P Siva Reddy in Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital from 1967 to 1979. He also worked as an Assistant Surgeon in the Nutakki Primary Health Centre in 1964 and from 1972-1979 as an incharge for Mobile Ophthalmolic Unit in the Vijayawada UGH.

   

He established the Sridevi Eye Hospital in 1979. Soliciting an invitation from West Virginia University of Ophthalmology foundation, Morgan Town, USA, he went there to learn the modern surgical methods in Ophthalmology in 1984. He introduced the micro surgery as well as I.O.L. surgery for the first time in the coastal districts. He started the faco operation for cataract and organised a workshop at his hospital.

He organized free medical camps in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Nalgonda, West Godavari and their surrounding areas for the poor and the needy and made awareness among the public. He operated on more than one lakh patients and gave them vision. He is working as a consulting eye surgeon for Swetcha Gora Eye Bank.

  • Lifetime member of All India Ophthalmology Society since 1975.
  • Lifetime member of IMA since 1972.
  • Lifetime member of AP Ophthalmology Association since 1980.
  • Lifetime member of Vijayawada Academy of Ophthalmology.

Achievements:

  • His writings are published in national and international medical journals.
  • He received Krishnaveni Award from Gopikrishna Arts on 15th Aug, 1998.
  • He received the Ugadi Puraskar - 2000 of Madras Telugu Academy from the hands of Karnataka Governor Ramadevi on April 2, 2000 in Chennai.
  • On 27th Aug, 2000 he received National Award - 2000 from the union Minister Sharad Yadav on behalf of Delhi Telugu Academy for his free medical camps and making awareness among the people on the modern treatments.
  • He received many-a-rewards also from the voluntary bodies in and around Vijayawada.
  • He received Dr. Malleswara Rao award from Andhra Pradesh State Eye Doctor's council for operating cataract in modern procedures.
